YEAR END PROGRAM & READING CONTEST:

Mark your calendars on December 18th.  The Annual Year end progrramand first annual reading contest will take place.

Sachiko Liou explains:

Year End Program:  In past years, each classroom teacher choose the type of program her class would perform.  For example, the 1st grade teacher would decide that all the 1st graders would perform a song and dance. This year, we wanted every student to be able to choose a program for themselves.  Therefore, we divided the students (excluding Nyumon) into 3 groups: a) play,b)  game show, and c) singing and dancing.  During 4th period the students break up and go practice whichever group they choose for the year end program.
Each group is lead by 2 teachers.  Play : Mrs. Murata and Mrs. Tokumitsu.  Game Show: Mrs. Kim and Mrs. Ueda. Singing and Dancing: Mrs. Liou and Mrs. Oga.
We hope you enjoy the show.

Reading Contest:  We always advise students to read aloud at home because it helps improve listening and speaking skills.  In order to encourage students to read more at home, we decided to start a reading contest.  Each student will be given about one page of reading material, which he or she will read aloud in front of the audience.  The teachers will then award 1st through 3rd place certificates for each grade level.
This sounds like a very interesting program.  Parents, please plan on attending with siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles.  The shows in the past have been very entertaining and it’s a great way to get into the holiday spirit.
