(By Noriko Murata, Teen II Teacher)
In the Teen II class, we learned how to use Word with a Japanese font. It was challenging to convert Hiragana into Kanji at the beginning, but soon everyone enjoyed using Kanji they hadn’t even learned yet. The documents looked very professional when printed. There is a saying, “Feelings never reach to one’s heart if you don’t hand write it.” However, nowadays there aremore and more opportunities to communicate by using computers to write mail or create documents. Their projects will be posted during the Obon Festival, and we have a big favor to ask you all. If you have an unused, but still functioning computer sleeping at home, we could find a great use for it here at SFVJLI. A new course called “AP Japanese Language & Culture” has been implemented in high schools since last year, and its AP test needs to be performed using a computer. In order to be prepared for this course, we are in great need of computers for the Teen II class. We appreciate your cooperation in helping the students broaden their Japanese learning experience.
