Immediately following the Parent Teacher conference period several of the parents attended the  Welcome Back Forum.  PTA president Yoshiko Kawada introduced the board and announced upcoming events for \the school year.  Everyone should be aware that there are 2 mandaotry volunteer events that every familoy is required to participate in.  Kurimanju fundraiser in March and Obon Carnival in July.  As stated on the calendar, ‘All families are expected to volunteer or monetary donation is required’.

Our new principal, Sachiko Liou, explained the new school format.  One of the big changes in the class breakdown is each class will be grouped together by Japanese ability and knowledge.  This makes it easier for each teacher to teach and the students will all be at the same level.  There will no longer be any social promotion and the students will be tested at the end of each school  year before they can advance to the next level.
