Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year at SFVJLI. One of the best ways to keep in touch with our youth is by getting involved with their school. Over the years, my family has benefited greatly from being a part of the SFVJLI family. I take this opportunity to invite you to become a volunteer at SFVJLI to enrich your life and enhance your child’s school experience. We can make the experience much better for all students through your ideas and support.
Listed below are some of many involvement opportunities.
• Bring recycling (bottles, cans)
• Donate classroom materials for your child
• Assist younger children in the classroom, especially Nyumon & J1A
• Prepare flyers and banners for cultural and fundraising events
• Set up the events, occasionally the night before
• Promote fundraising items to your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors
• The Entertainment Book Sale (Until December 20)
• Yard Sale (November and April)
• Kurimanju (March 14)
• Obon Festival (July)
SFVJLI has been around since 1933. For 85 years, one thing has not changed: our school in run by the parents! Some of you may think it is only the Saturday school, but there are tons of things to be done to run the school efficiently. It does not have to be an entire morning. Even a half hour would be appreciated. I am looking forward to meeting each one of you during this school year. Thank you.
