NEW YEAR’S GREETING
|
(By Noriko Murata, Chief Coordinator)
A Happy New Year to you! Hope you enjoyed your fun-filled winter break, and got to spend a special new year’s moment with your family. At this new starting point, we’re asking you, students and parents of SFVJLI, a big favor: start your day early on Saturdays! Looking at the faces of our students every Saturday, we’ve realized that some cannot keep their eyes open, apparently because they stay up late Friday night. Some cannot concentrate because they skip breakfast. Some are even frequently late for school by ten or fifteen minutes. You may think “only” fifteen, but these precious fifteen minutes could accumulate up to 540 minutes in a year! I am not a morning person myself, so I reaaaally understand how it’s difficult to start your weekend morning early. In my case, it takes half an hour to step out of my bed since the alarm goes off, trying to fight with all my organs to become fully functional. There must be some of you, experiencing what I’ve been going through every Saturday. Well, try to think of it this way starting this January: after fighting off this crucial 30 minutes, your fun-filled Japanese school is waiting for you! And we’re asking you, parents, to feed your children a full breakfast and send them off to school with a clear mind. Let’s make the school hours fun and productive together, with all the teachers and staff members, and we’ll do our best to make our class and activities satisfactory for everyone. The cold days will continue for a while, but please make the extra effort. Wishing you all a Happy New Year!
