A BONUS FOR OUR SCHOOL!
|
(By Kana Shimizu,, PTA Board)
Do you work for a company that offers a charitable Matching Gift Program? Many are not aware that the San Fernando Valley Japanese Language Institute is a 501(c)(3) organization, which means that it is a non-profit tax exempt organization. The school appreciates the many private and corporate donations and pledges as well as your volunteer time. One of the smartest ways to support our school is to give through a matching gift program, where a company -- or individual -- will match an employee’s donation to a 501(c)(3) organization, like SFVJLI. These matches are often dollar for dollar, which DOUBLES your charitable donation power. Your donations and corporate matching dollars are tax deductible. Many corporations large and small have adopted corporate matching gift plans to help support non-profit organizations like us and match gifts made by their employees. In order to get started, check with your company’s human resources or payroll department to see whether it offers a matching gift program. You can often check this out online too. Ask for or download the appropriate donation guidelines and application forms. Upon deciding how much you want to donate to SFVJLI, submit your paperwork and donation to Kana Shimizu in the office. Kana can assist you with the paperwork and provide the necessary documents (usually a mission statement and evidence of 501(c)(3) status) to complete the application for the matching gift. Every dollar you and your employer may donate through a matching gift program enables our school and staff to enrich our students learning and awareness of Japanese culture and traditions. So check with your company and see if you can doubly support our school!
